Connie Wows 'em In Brooklyn
Connie was in magnificent form on July 30 for her outdoor concert in Brooklyn, as part of the 31st Annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Asser Levy/Seaside Park in Coney Island. It's been 18 years since Connie appeared here, and Brooklyn Borough President and host Marty Markowitz wondered why it took Connie so long to return. The park was packed to capacity as Connie sang to over 9,000 people, delighting her fans under a star-filled New York sky. She sang in four languages and received five standing ovations— the audience rose to its feet when Connie made her entrance, and after she sang "Mama," "Exodus," "Where the Boys Are," and "God Bless America." New Jersey, Pennsylvania Hail Queen Connie
There's only one thing better than attending a Connie Francis concert -- and that would be attending TWO Connie Francis shows on consecutive evenings. Fans who attended one or both of Connie's back-to-back shows this month in Rahway, NJ and Easton, PA had their socks knocked off by Connie. She was in wonderful voice, sang in five languages and Connie looked gorgeous! Connie received numerous standing ovations throughout her shows. Fans came from around the world to see her, and Connie acknowledged them during her shows. After an emotionally charged and powerful performance of "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?," Connie graciously thanked the audience for coming in such severe economic times and showed her humility. She remarked that dimes don't come too easily these days, and thanked the audience for spending their dimes to come to see her. This brought another round of applause. Connie very patiently signed autographs for all fans for several hours after both shows.

Connie's warmth and generosity is well known by her fans. This quality was evident when Connie was a student at the Bergen Street School in Newark, New Jersey. August R. Carnevali sent a newspaper clipping from 1947, showing Connie helping his wife, Marion, at the blackboard. Mr. Carnevali has been married to Marion for 24 years. He could not believe that Marion went to school with Connie, until Marion produced the newspaper clipping from the Star Ledger that she saved all these years. Go here to find out more.

Connie In Newsday
A very favorable letter to the editor about Connie was published in Newsday (New York/Long Island). The newspaper published an article about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and asked why some artists are inducted while others are not. No mention was made of Connie. Go here to see what one fan had to say. The letter was originally titled "Hall of Shame: Connie Was Robbed," but Newsday didn't use that headline.
